7th GRADE CHORUS PERFORMED AT ARTSBRIDGE FOUNDATION GALA!!

Friday night, September 18, was truly a wonderful night for our 7th grade chorus students!!  They won the audition to perform at ArtsBridge Foundation Gala at the Cobb Energy Centre featuring Kristin Chenoweth! They performed a tribute to Kristin and did a fantastic job representing Fayette County as the only middle school chosen to perform
alongside Woodland Elementary and West Forsyth High School.  Special thanks to Roger Beale,
Vocal Professor at Point University for the extra coaching session!

Congratulations, Eagles! Job well done!

CHORUS

Chorus is a year-long class where students in all middle grades sing in their own ensemble and collectively in school and community events.  Students in chorus learn a variety of genres and styles, but they also learn how to apply the right approach to each new piece of music whether it's classical, Broadway, pop, or jazz.

No two voices are identical.  Therefore, no two choruses will ever sound alike because the chorus is the blending of one of the most unique sounds on the planet - the human voice.

SIXTH GRADE

Chorus is a fantastic opportunity for new sixth grade students to begin singing from elementary school or community-based groups.  Sixth grade singers focus on a variety of genres, sight singing, developing proper technique, growing confidence in their own sound... and making new friends in music.

SEVENTH GRADE

Chorus in seventh grade is a great opportunity to welcome new singers, or to improve singers who were a part of chorus in sixth grade. Seventh grade singers focus on a variety of genres, including more advanced sight-singing, creating consistency in technique, and improving intonation through harmony.  Students will perform throughout the year in a variety of opportunities and showcases.

EIGHTH GRADE

Eight is typically considered the most advanced singers in the school.  Eight grade singers are continuing to develop their individual voices, as well as the collective choral experience.  Sight singing concepts continually advance and harmony is a routine part of singing and repertoire.  Students become proficient in a variety of genres, as well as choosing placement for those genres (e.g., head, belt voice).
