Handchimes

 

Sixth graders have an option to take a nine-week exploration into the world of handchimes.  Flat Rock Middle School has a dual set of two-octave chimes and an extender octave, so there is more than enough room for everyone to play!  We play all kinds of genres, and even experiment with writing our own music.  Playing handchimes encourages students to learn the fundamentals of music, but also in order to make the music, they have to work together.  Students have an opportunity to perform at a variety of events depending on when their nine-week class occurs during the school year.
